High fiber means low cholesterol

SolaGrain's unique mixture of natural fibers can help lower cholesterol.

People in the industrialized world increasingly suffer from high cholesterol. For many, that is the first step toward heart disease or other debilitating conditions. Arteriosclerosis and the illnesses that result from it are some of the most fatal diseases world-wide. Arteriosclerosis results when cholesterol and minerals build up in the body's blood vessels, a condition known as plaque. This plaque is most often due to elevated blood sugar levels, overweight and too little physical activity. The fiber contained in SolaGrain can play a significant role in counteracting this problem.

Recent studies show that both types of fiber - soluble and insoluble, both of which are contained in SolaGrain - are effective in reducing cholesterol and triglycerides. They also have a positive impact on the body's mechanisms for regulating cholesterol production, especially the production of LDL, often referred to "bad cholesterol." Since fiber helps prevent cholesterol-producing substances from being absorbed in the small intestine, LDL levels automatically fall.

In the large intestine, moreover, fatty acids are produced when fiber and bacteria interact. Recent studies suggest that these fatty acids signal the liver to reduce its production of cholesterol.
